Our planet Earth never stops creating surprises. Despite decoding many mysteries, there are still things that humans have not been able to unravel. Below are some phenomena and places that remain a big mystery for humanity, and people want to uncover the truth.
Moeraki Boulders, New Zealand
The mysterious spherical boulders with “giant” sizes and unique shapes at Moeraki Beach in New Zealand are the most interesting thing. However, the natural cause that makes these spherical boulders appear and be so perfect is still an unsolved mystery.
The Great Sphinx of Giza
The Great Sphinx of Giza is considered one of the most famous and mysterious wonders of ancient Egypt. Therefore, there are many theories surrounding this magnificent structure. The small head of the Sphinx led geologist Robert Schoch to believe that the original statue had the head of a lion.
This head was later carved into the mysterious face of a Pharaoh. However, this theory lacks convincing evidence and a close correlation with the 3 pyramids. Therefore, the controversy over the Great Sphinx of Giza remains a secret that has not been revealed yet.
The phenomenon of animal migration
Animal migration is a natural phenomenon. Different animal species usually migrate from one place to another during a certain season of the year.
Despite being a very familiar phenomenon, scientists still cannot explain how the important migration behavior among different species of birds, fish, insects, and mammals occurs.
The mysterious stepped structure in the Ryukyu Islands, Japan
In 1986, a group of divers discovered a strange rock structure near Yonaguni Island in the Ryukyu Islands, Japan.
The artifacts (rocks with symbols, a pulling hook and animal sculptures) led people to believe that they were handmade products and speculated that they could be the remains of an ancient mysterious civilization.
However, to this day, scientists still debate extensively on the mystery of this massive underwater rock structure.
Red lights in the Pacific Ocean
The mysterious sight of red lights appearing over the Pacific Ocean was first seen by Christiaan van Heijist as he flew from Hong Kong to Alaska on a Boeing 747-8 plane.
Specifically, Christiaan noticed the red lights appearing after a lightning flash at a distance. Today, this strange phenomenon still cannot be accurately explained although scientists speculate that the red lights may be a reflection of an active underwater volcano.
The mysterious stone sphere in Bosnia
Some people believe that our ancestors created these giant stone balls as symbols of objects in the sky. However, in reality, the origins of stone spheres in different countries around the world are still unexplained mysteries.
The mysterious room behind Mount Rushmore, USA
On top of Mount Rushmore (located in South Dakota, USA) is a very famous sculpture, depicting 4 American presidents’ faces: Lincoln Borglum, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt.
During the construction of this famous monument, architect Gutzon Borglum wanted to create a large room inside the Rushmore mountain. For this purpose, he dug a cave behind the statue of Abraham Lincoln.
In 1998, more than 50 years after Gutzon Borglum’s death, a copy of important documents and diaries of many US presidents were placed in this unfinished hall. No one knows how the room was used and why it remained abandoned for 50 years.
Some people believe that this place may have been the base of secret laboratories. However, the truth about the hidden room in Mount Rushmore is still a puzzle to solve.
The undated rock in Meredith, USA
This rock was found in 1872 at an excavation site in the city of Meredith on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee (in New Hampshire, USA). This artifact is a product made from quartzite.
However, the strange thing is that New Hampshire does not have this type of rock. Therefore, this rock may come from somewhere else. Moreover, the age and function of the mysterious rock have not been determined yet. Therefore, this rock is still a mystery.
Synchronized fireflies
Fireflies are very familiar insects. Instead of emitting light whenever they want, fireflies usually light up at the same time (about 1-2 seconds per time).
Jonathan Cppeland, a firefly expert at South Georgia University, believes that this could be some kind of ritual of this insect species. However, no one can accurately explain the phenomenon of synchronized flashing in fireflies.
