Kapilikaya Rock Tomb; It is located in the Kırkdilim locality of the Lâçin district, approximately 27 kilometers north of the Turkish province of Çorum. The monumental rock tomb is located on a very steep cliff on a rough terrain formed by deep valleys. Kapilikaya, which surprises those who see it with its location and interesting structure, continues to preserve its mystery. While various rumors are told about the door in the region, the story of the stone door is not known exactly.
It is known that the building, which is thought to be a monumental tomb, belongs to the commander Ikezios, who lived in the Hellenistic period. The tomb carved into a high rock, II. It is dated to the century. The door of the rock tomb is located in the northwest corner of the nose of a rock block extending to the north. This tomb, which is 65 meters above the valley floor, is located on a platform. From this platform, it is possible to pass to the 2nd platform with 8 steps, and from there to the platform in front of the grave with 12 steps. There is an inscription “Ikezios” on the door of the burial chamber. On the walls of the burial chamber, on the right and left of the entrance, there are carved dead depictions in the form of niches.
Although the monumental tomb is located on the Çorum-Osmancık highway, its presentation has not been adequately made. In order to reach the rock, which can be easily seen from the road, it is necessary to take a strenuous walk. The rock tomb, for which there is not much information about it, does not have many visitors except researchers. However, the tomb belonging to Commander Ikezios draws great attention from treasure hunters who think that it may be important jewels and gold. The treasure hunters who carried out various excavations in the region caused damage to the rock tomb. They even tried to explode the door by placing dynamite on it to open it. The mausoleum was restored by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism in 2010 and brought into tourism.
The gigantic door carved from a single piece of rock creates a mysterious image. For this reason, some rumors are circulating among the people about him. It is stated that one of the treasure hunters who entered the cave disappeared and was never heard from again. It is also told that there is a tunnel behind the door and that this tunnel ends in Amasya. It is said that a person who enters through the door leaves Amasya. Although there is no evidence to support what is told, the gate is among the places worth seeing with its magnificent structure and view.
