A North Carolina man reeled in an enormous 112-pound catfish while fishing in the Cape Fear River.
Riahn Brewington nearly broke the state’s record for the largest catfish ever caught, but his river monster was five pounds shy of the record-holder, he told WWAY-TV.
Brewington, of New Hanover County, was out fishing in the northeast area of the Cape Fear the day before Thanksgiving.

‘In the water, it felt like it was pretty big, but like I said being that big I thought it would have already snapped the line,’ he told the station.
Brewington said he didn’t ‘realize how big he was until I actually got my hands underneath him’.
The fisherman said he had never caught anything that big before.
And just in case there are more of those river monsters out there, Brewington did not want to give away his spot.
After taking several photos with the huge fish, Brewington released it back into the water.
